PRESENTERS:

Susan D. Kaufman

is the Senior Manager of the Houston Public Library’s Clayton Library Center for Genealogical Research in Houston. Susan has 30+ years of experience as a Genealogy Librarian starting her career at the Peoria Public Library, then moving to the Allen County Indiana Public Library. Throughout her career, she has held numerous genealogical society board positions in Illinois, Indiana, Texas, and at the national level. She is past President of the Texas State Genealogical Society and currently serves as its Director of Education.


Max Heffler

is a native Houstonian, has spent over 30 years pursuing his hobby and passion for genealogy. In 2001, he joined the Greater Houston Jewish Genealogical Society (GHJGS) and updated the Jewish Herald Voice Project from index cards to an Access database. He then brought the project to JewishGen.org. Along with the GHJGS, Max volunteers with JewishGen doing data entry, web page creation, microfilm index coordination, Yizkor books, Jewish Online Worldwide Burial Index, and memorial plaque web page creation as well as managing Yizkor Book necrology indexing. In 2002, he expanded his focus to include genetic genealogy via DNA testing. Max is a sought after speaker for those in the community interested in genealogy.
